Your Marrakech to Fes desert tour starts in the morning with pickup from your accommodation. We drive through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with stops to admire panoramic views and traditional Berber villages.
Next, we visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for movies such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Kingdom of Heaven. After exploring the kasbah, we continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa.”
In the afternoon, we drive along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing oases and ancient fortresses until we reach the Valley of Roses, then continue to Boumalne Dades.
Overnight in a traditional riad or hotel (dinner & breakfast ).
After breakfast, we travel to the spectacular Todra Valley and Todra Gorges, famous for their towering rock walls reaching up to 300 meters. Enjoy a short walk through the canyon and time for photos.
We continue through Berber villages and palm-filled oases, stopping for lunch in Tinjdad or Touroug, then pass through Erfoud, known for fossils and date palms.
In the afternoon, we arrive at the Merzouga Desert (Erg Chebbi). Here, you begin a camel trek across the dunes, stopping to watch the sunset and try sandboarding (optional).
At the desert camp, enjoy mint tea, dinner, Berber music around the campfire, and a magical night under the stars.

Wake up early to witness a stunning sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After breakfast, return by camel or 4WD to meet your driver.
We head north through Errachidia, stopping to admire the panoramic views of the Ziz Valley, famous for its vast palm groves. After lunch in Midelt, we continue through the Cedar Forest of Azrou, where you may see Barbary macaques.
Our final stop is Ifrane, a charming alpine-style town. In the late afternoon or evening, we arrive in Fes, where your tour ends.
The direct drive from Merzouga to Marrakech is 554 km and should have a drive time of around 9H. Therefore, it will be broken up into two days as you will spend the first night in the Dades Valley or Ouarzazate. But, on the last day of our 3 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, you will have a direct drive back to Marrakech with few stops along the way.
